Jackets put Carter on IR
Also call up QMJHL goaltender
By QMI Agency

Columbus Blue Jackets centre Jeff Carter was put on injured reserve Tuesday due to a broken bone in his right foot.

Carter is out week-to-week with the injury, which happened when he blocked a shot during Saturday's game against the Dallas Stars. The seven-year veteran has struggled early in his first season with the Jackets, recording three assists in five games.

It's expected that Carter will miss a week to 10 days due to the injury, which could be related to a previous foot issue he had when he was with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Columbus also called up goalie Mathieu Corbeil from Saint John of the QMJHL on an emergency basis after Curtis Sanford strained his groin during practice Monday. Corbeil was a fifth-round pick of the Jackets in the 2010 draft.

The 20-year-old Corbeil has gone 7-2-0 with a 2.61 goals-against average with the Sea Dogs this season.
