Columbus, OH - The National Hockey League has suspended Columbus defenseman Jan Hejda two games for elbowing Chicago's Marcus Kruger in the head during Friday's game.
At the 1:05 mark of the second period, Hejda delivered the elbow and received a minor penalty. But the sterner discipline from the league will keep him out for Sunday's game against St. Louis and Tuesday's contest against Dallas.
Hejda will be eligible to return April 8 against Nashville.
Hejda was also fined $21,505.38, an amount based on his average annual salary and calculated under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
