Blue Jackets place Brassard on IR
By Sports Network

COLUMBUS, OH -- Columbus Blue Jackets center Derick Brassard was placed on injured reserve Thursday and will be sidelined for a minimum of two to three weeks.

The club did not state the nature of the injury, which occurred early in Wednesday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Los Angeles Kings. However, the Columbus Dispatch is reporting Brassard was struck on the left hand by teammate Jan Hejda's slap shot less than a minute into the contest.

The 23-year-old has already set career highs in goals (14) and points (39) in 57 games this season.
