Avalanche keep Hejduk
By SPORTS NETWORK
DENVER - Right winger Milan Hejduk has agreed to a one-year contract to remain with the Colorado Avalanche.
The 36-year-old has played with the Avalanche for 13 years, winning a Stanley Cup in 2001.
Hejduk had 14 goals and 23 assists in 81 games in 2011-12, ending a streak of 11 consecutive seasons with at least 20 goals.
"Over the years, Milan has been an instrumental part of our organization's success," Avalanche general manager Greg Sherman said. "He has represented this franchise with class and will continue to complement the young nucleus of players we have been building this team around."
Hejduk is just nine games shy of becoming the first Avs player to appear in 1,000 games.
