Chicago Blackhawks forwards Viktor Stalberg and Ben Smith will both miss time after being hurt in Wednesday's preseason win over the Detroit Red Wings.

Stalberg is expected to miss three weeks with a lower-body injury while Smith is out for an indefinite period after being hit by Detroit's Brendan Smith. The Red Wings' Smith is facing a possible suspension for the hit.

"Ben's OK"¦ I guess OK," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said on the team's website. "We don't want to put a timeline on him. It's tough to say (when he could return)."

'Hawks centre David Bolland is day-to-day with an upper-body injury while forward Patrick Sharp, who's been out since Sept. 12 after having an appendectomy, could return to practice Friday.
