Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville was admitted to a Chicago-area hospital Wednesday with an undisclosed health problem.
Quenneville felt “severe discomfort” at his home in suburban Chicago, Blackhawks team physician Dr. Michael Terry said.
“He is currently in stable condition and is being treated for an undisclosed health concern, not of cardiac nature,” Terry said. “Further testing is ongoing and we will provide an update when possible.” The Blackhawks (28-22-6), the defending Stanley Cup champions, were four points out of a playoff spot entering play Wednesday night.
Assistant coach Mike Haviland was to take over behind the bench for Chicago’s game Wednesday night against Minnesota.
