'Hawks pressing to sign Havlat
By BRUCE GARRIOCH, SUN MEDIA

The Blackhawks are working hard to sign looming unrestricted free-agent RW Martin Havlat.

His agent, Allan Walsh, will meet with Chicago GM Dale Tallon tonight in Pittsburgh to see if they can get a long-term contract signed.

Havlat wants to remain with the 'Hawks, but he could be one of the most valuable free agents on the market.

The Senators haven't had any contract discussions with pending UFA RW Chris Neil. That doesn't bode well for him remaining in Ottawa ... Talk Panthers GM Jacques Martin will surface behind the bench in Montreal just won't go away ... Ottawa native and former Gatineau Olympiques star Paul Byron has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Sabres. Byron, Buffalo's sixth-round pick (179th overall) in 2007, had 99 points in 64 games for the Olympiques last season.
