Canes activate Samsonov from IR

OTTAWA, ON, -- The Carolina Hurricanes have activated left wing Sergei Samsonov from injured reserve.
Samsonov sustained a neck injury when he was checked into the boards during a preseason game against Atlanta on September 25.
The 31-year-old Russian did not accompany the team on its trip to Europe for the two-game season-opening series against Minnesota. He is eligible to return for Thursday's game against Ottawa.
Samsonov compiled 14 goals and 15 assists in 72 games for the Hurricanes last season.
