CALGARY - The locks were soaked, but Brian Burke's hair took a good hit for a good cause.
The Calgary Flames president of hockey operations answered the bell to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge on Friday, having been challenged by the likes of NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and Flames GM Brad Treliving.
“I'll remember this if we don't have a good season,” Burke said of his response to Treliving.
Burke had John Buccigross of ESPN and NHLer Hal Gill (“Who will go down as the player who's played for the most teams in the National Hockey League.”) both dump buckets of ice water on him.
“I know you people who all like my hairdo are disappointed that my hair's wet, but there we go,” Burke said after he was drenched.
Burke also threw down the gauntlet, challenging Olympic hockey players Hayley Wickenheiser, Cassie Campbell-Pascall, Julie Chu and Meghan Duggan to do the same.
