Scratch another name from the list of restricted free agents for the Calgary Flames.

The club announced Thursday that Joni Ortio, a definite candidate to be the goalie of the future at the Saddledome, has inked a two-year contract.

Financial details were not disclosed.

Ortio, who turned 23 in April, made his big-league debut last winter and posted a 4-4-0 record, a 2.51 goals-against average and an .891 save percentage in nine appearances for the Flames.

He was also among the American Hockey League's top puck-stoppers in 2013-14, ranking second on the minor-league circuit with a .926 save percentage and fourth with 27 wins.

With fellow Finn Karri Ramo and free-agent addition Jonas Hiller expected to split the netminding duties at the Saddledome this season, Ortio will likely be the workhorse for the Flames' relocated farm club in Adirondack, N.Y.
