CALGARY - You only get once chance to make a first impression.

Sam Bennett didn’t disappoint

The fourth-overall selection in the 2014 NHL Draft, Bennett was among the standouts in Monday’s scrimmage at Calgary Flames development camp at WinSport’s Markin MacPhail Centre.

A top-shelf snipe.

A dandy deke in the shootout.

Enough chemistry with Hobey Baker Award-winning whiz-kid Johnny Gaudreau to give the hundreds of fans in attendance something to talk about Tuesday in the lineup at Nashville North or as they rake the track between the chuckwagon races.

“I just hope I showed them my skill-set and my compete level,” Bennett said. “But I definitely think there’s a lot more to my game that I can still bring. It’s the first time I’ve played a game in a really long time, so I still hope to show a lot more.”
