CALGARY - These Western Conference squads have a history of snoozefests when they meet, so it would be nice to have something — anything, really — to spice up Monday’s clash between the Calgary Flames and the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center.

Maybe a sibling rivalry will do the trick.

Exactly one week after he was summoned from the AHL’s Abbotsford Heat, 20-year-old Flames forward Markus Granlund will go head-to-head with his older brother, Mikael, a rising star in his second winter with the Wild.

“That’s so special,” said Flames winger Joe Colborne. “And for (Markus) to be that young and doing it now, in his third game, that will be so cool, even for his brother to witness his first chance up here.

“I’m sure both guys are going to be real excited, and you know there will be some good banter going back and forth.”

Excited? Sure.

Banter? Well … let’s just say Markus seems pretty tight-lipped.
