CALGARY - If Calgary Flames centre Mikael Backlund is, indeed, headed to the 2014 Sochi Olympics as a member of Team Sweden, it's news to him.

Reports out of Sweden indicate Backlund will replace Vancouver Canucks captain Henrik Sedin for the Tre Kronor, but the 24-year-old Flames forward insisted “I don't know anything” as he departed the team hotel and headed to Nassau Coliseum for Thursday's date with the New York Islanders.

A few minutes later, Backlund reiterated on his Twitter account that he hasn't received a call from Sweden's head coach: “I haven't heard anything about Olympics. I haven't got the call to from Pär Mårts. No replacement is official yet!”
