CALGARY - When Michael Cammalleri went down with a concussion, the Calgary Flames were struggling to find the back of the net, let alone piece together any sort of winning streak.

Now, as the veteran winger gets set to return to the lineup Thursday against the San Jose Sharks (Saddledome, 7 p.m., Sportsnet West), he does so with his team in the midst of a season-high three-game run.

“Whatever fit coach thinks is good, I’ll go play that role,” Cammalleri said Wednesday, hours after watching his team’s 5-4 overtime win Tuesday night over the Chicago Blackhawks. “It’s good to be back when the guys are playing well. Things are going well and pucks are going in the net.

“It’s been fun watching the guys the last few games. That’s all it takes is a little bit of winning and everyone’s having a good time.”

After an eight-game absence spanning 18 days, Cammalleri skated on the left side of a Sean Monahan-centred trio, with T.J. Galiardi on the right side.
