SAN JOSE - Matt Stajan says it ain't a done deal yet.

It sure seems close, though.

CBC's Elliotte Friedman reported Monday that Stajan is on the verge of signing a contract extension with the Calgary Flames and although the 30-year-old centre told reporters after the morning skate in San Jose that it's not official, he certainly sounded like he was willing to put pen to a new deal with the rebuilding squad.

“We're in discussions. I haven't signed anything yet but I'd love to be back here and we're working towards it,” Stajan said. “I want to be a part of what's going on here. We have a lot of promise with what's going on with the young guys and I just want to see this through.
