RALEIGH, N.C. - Nearly a decade in the making.

Karri Ramo is the answer to a dubious drought.

Ramo's 23-save performance in a 2-0 win over the Carolina Hurricanes Monday was not only his first NHL shutout and the first by the Flames this season but the first for anybody not named Miikka Kiprusoff in almost 10 years.

Ramo, supported with a veritable offensive outburst by his team, was more than equal to the task before the announced crowd of 15,276 at PNC Arena.

The last goalie other than Kiprusoff to pitch a shutout was Roman Turek on March 24, 2004.
