DENVER - The big surprise for the Calgary Flames wasn't that goalie Reto Berra was named to Switzerland's Olympic team or Ladislav Smid was selected to the Czech team.

It was Jiri Hudler's exclusion from the Czech squad.

Hudler was left off the team anounced Monday morning, while the likes of 42-year-old Petr Nedved and former Flame, and NHL washout Roman Cervenka were selected.

“I'm disappointed for Jiri,” Flames head coach Bob Hartley said after his team's morning skate in anticipation of facing the Colorado Avalanche.
