Joe Colborne can relate to Bobby Ryan.

 

He’s felt the wrath of Brian Burke — and face-to-face.

Care to divulge anything the Flames president of hockey operations and acting GM has blasted you with, Joe?

“Oh, I probably shouldn’t,” Colborne said with a wry grin after Friday’s morning skate at the Saddledome.

Burke, who’s not known for speaking softly, is in the spotlight after an ESPN article captured the meetings among the braintrust selecting Team USA for the Olympic Winter Games and reported some disparaging remarks about Ryan, who he drafted while part of the Anaheim Ducks and now plays for the Ottawa Senators.

“He is not intense. That word is not in his vocabulary. It’s never going to be in his vocabulary. He can’t spell intense,” Burke is reported as saying.

Burke turned down requests to be interviewed, but Flames players saw it as Burke being himself.
