Think back a year from today.

Who would have guessed the NHL lockout wouldn’t ruin all of the 2012-13 season?

Or that the Calgary Flames would trade away Jarome Iginla?

Or that goalie Miikka Kiprusoff would retire?

OK, EVERYBODY would have.

But 2014 is an empty slate for the Calgary Flames and their fans.

Here are 14 events we look forward to happening before the calendar flips to 2015.

When the Flames are blanked for the fifth time in seven games, during which goalkeeper Reto Berra has surrendered two or fewer goals six times, the beleaguered netminder blows a gasket and says he can’t wait to suit up for Switzerland at the Olympics, since that team has a better chance of giving him some offensive support. Berra is the starter for Switzerland’s first game against Latvia in the Olympics, and makes 32 saves in a 2-0 loss before nearly eating himself into a chocolate coma.
