CALGARY - Daniel Alfredsson opened the scoring just 26 seconds after the anthems.

Just 47 seconds into overtime, he ended it.

The Calgary Flames couldn't kill of a hooking penalty to defenceman TJ Brodie that carried into the extra session and settled for a single point in Thursday's 3-2 OT loss to Alfie and the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena.

Alfredsson's winning tally capped a three-point effort for the longtime Ottawa Senators star.

Netminder Karri Ramo made 35 saves for the Flames (13-16-6), while the out-of-tonwers managed just 22 shots at the other end.
