CALGARY - Reto Berra almost had the magic formula against the defending Stanley Cup champs again.

Almost, but that’s just not good enough.

Not when Patrick Kane, the hottest player in the NHL right now, has the true Midas touch.

Kane scored twice in the third period, including the winner with 18 seconds on the clock, to spoil the hopes of Berra and the Calgary Flames for another upset special of the Chicago Blackhawks in a 3-2 game Wednesday night at the Saddledome.

“There’s nights like that where you work really hard for it, you think you deserve it and, in the end, you walk out and get a kick in the butt,” said Flames rookie Sven Baertschi.
