CALGARY - The question was posed by a visiting media member at the morning skate.

“Is the motto here, 'At least we're not the Oilers?' ” mused one of the Dallas followers having watched the Stars hand Edmonton a 3-0 loss the night before and readying to see the Calgary Flames in action.

Well, the Flames lit the lamp a few times in Thursday's 7-3 shellacking at the hands of the Stars later that night, but that's about all they can boast about in comparison to their Alberta rivals right now.

Remember when the Flames could at least say they could succeed by playing a hard-as-nails, gritty-start-to-finish game? Not on this night, which is shocking after they sleepwalked through the first two periods of Tuesday's 3-2 OT loss to the San Jose Sharks.
