DALLAS - Gone in 61 seconds.

Remember when the Calgary Flames were the upstarts of the NHL, the little engine that could, because they were unbeaten in regulation before heading out on their tough five-game road trip against what used to be the whole Pacific Division?

The lost a game and those early season good vibrations in exactly one minute and one second deep in the heart of Texas en route to a 5-1 blasting at the hands of the Dallas Stars Thursday night.

Even though the Flames knew long before the puck dropped at the American Airlines Center they would finish this trip with more losses than victories, the opportunity was right there to call it a success. They just needed a solid effort against the struggling Stars to build on some gritty efforts in California.

Those hopes disappeared seemingly in the blink of an eye just past the midway point in Dallas when Alex Chiasson and Jamie Benn blasted away a 1-1 deadlock by scoring 18 seconds apart, and Brenden Dillon completed the trio of tallies in just over one minute before the announced crowd of 13,122 at the American Airlines Center.
