CALGARY - Calgary Flames winger Alex Tanguay was honest in his assessment of his personal performance in the post-lockout campaign.

And the truth ain’t always pretty.

“I was playing pretty good the first 25 games of the year, and then when the distractions came about, I think that mentally I got a little bit affected by it,” Tanguay said, referring to the hullabaloo around the trade deadline.

“And that’s on me. You have to be professional. You have to play your best every night.

“But I’ve got some good years of hockey left ahead of me and I’m hoping that I can be a key contributor in this organization.”

Tanguay, who collected 11 goals and 27 points in 40 games before suffering a season-ending knee injury, is under contract in Calgary for three more seasons.
