CALGARY - The farewell is coming.

Possibly as early as the end of this season.

For one more night, Miikka Kiprusoff gave a reminder to the Calgary Flames and their fans what he’s meant to this franchise for the last decade.

Kiprusoff, who appears headed into retirement after this season, showed the form that’s made him a star and a fan favourite in Wednesday’s 3-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings at the Saddledome.

Although Kiprusoff hasn’t announced this will indeed be the end of the line for him, the general belief around the Saddledome is the franchise’s all-time leader in wins and shutouts is walking away even with one more season on his contract.

In turn, the clash with the Red Wings is expected to be one of his final games at the Saddledome, if not the last outing.

If that’s the last time Flames fans see Kiprusoff live, what a way to go out.
