Not long ago, Ben Hanowski's plans for Monday included writing a test at St. Cloud State University.
Instead, the 22-year-old right winger acquired in the trade which sent Jarome Iginla to the Pittsburgh Penguins was readying for his NHL debut for the Calgary Flames.
“Getting thrown right in there. It'll be fun. It's exciting,” Hanowski said after the morning skate. “Growing up, this is what you always dreamed of, playing in the NHL.”
Hanowski, a 6-foot-2, 210-lb. product of Little Falls, Minn., arrived in Calgary Sunday, a couple of days after signing a contract and a few days after his college season ended in the semifinal of the NCAA Frozen Four.
As if his NHL debut wasn't enough to be jacked up about, it's against the Minnesota Wild, the team he cheered.
