Although they're not mathematically eliminated, everybody knows the Calgary Flames are out of post-season contention.

That makes them ... spoilers.

“Obviously, you hate having that quote behind all your games, but it seems like that's the hot word,” sighed Flames left-winger Curtis Glencross.

The Flames (12-21-4) will continue to experiment with a youth-infused lineup during Friday's clash with the Phoenix Coyotes (7 p.m., Sportsnet West, Sportsnet 960) at the Saddledome, but it's certainly not a meaningless tilt for the Desert Dogs.
