CALGARY - It’s been quite the season for Tyler Wotherspoon.
The Calgary Flames 2011 second-round draft pick set a career high in points while posting a remarkable plus-62 rating for the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks, was part of Canada’s world junior team, was named a second-team conference all-star and now has signed his first pro contract.
“Looking back a year ago, I really planned on having a good, solid year,” Wotherspoon said Sunday when reached following his team’s practice while preparing for Game 6 of the first round of the WHL playoffs. “I set a lot of goals for myself, and I feel I’ve reached or exceeded a lot of them. I’m really proud of the year I’ve had, although I still have a long way to go, and I’ve got one more goal to finish.
“But it’s been successful, for sure.”
