Consider it a cold case.

With Wednesday's franchise-altering late-night announcement Jarome Iginla had been traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins to patrol Sidney Crosby's wing, the Calgary Flames' seemingly endless search to find a No. 1 centre to pair with their once-in-a-generation sniper officially wraps without a solution.

To use a baseball analogy, there's no doubt Iginla will be wearing a Flames cap on his Hall-of-Fame bust.

When the 35-year-old packed his bags for Pittsburgh, he could have taken Calgary's franchise record books with him. Some of his team marks -- 525 goals and 1,095 points, for example -- might never be broken.

Flames fans will always wonder, though, what he could have accomplished with another star on Calgary's top unit.
