DENVER — The 2001 Stanley Cup championship banner hangs from the rafters at the visitors’ end of the rink at Pepsi Center.
Bob Hartley doesn’t even have to look that far for his reminder.
A simple glance up at the scoreboard is usually enough to bring back the memories of that fairy-tale spring for the former Colorado Avalanche skipper and current bench boss of the Calgary Flames.
“Looking at the clock, final seconds with Ray Bourque on the ice and 18,000 or 19,000 fans on their feet, screaming and jumping and everything, it was pretty special. You don’t forget those memories,” Hartley said.
