Flames come up dry in desert in loss to Coyotes

PHOENIX - For a guy making his first NHL appearance in nearly five years, the early jitters were to be expected.

It shouldn't have been too much to ask for Danny Taylor's teammates to help erase them.

The score-sheet will show that Phoenix Coyotes defenceman Keith Yandle and forwards Mikkel Boedker, Antoine Vermette and Raffi Torres spoiled Taylor's special moment in Monday's 4-0 loss at Jobing.com Arena.

The truth is the rest of the Calgary Flames failed to provide any offensive support for the 26-year-old puck-stopper, who only allowed one goal through two periods but couldn't hold the fort by himself.

The Flames (5-6-3) squandered another opportunity to climb above .500 and return home from their two-game road-trip with a split. They'll now stick around the Saddledome for a three-game homestand, which begins with Wednesday's showdown against Darryl Sutter and the Los Angeles Kings.
