Flames coach says no defending defensive play

Saturday’s brunch menu at the Saddledome featured a buffet of blunt assessment, without even a hint of sugary coating.

Even with a night to digest a 5-2 home-ice loss to the St. Louis Blues, Calgary Flames head coach Bob Hartley arrived at the rink with a sour taste in his mouth.

“We’re not Amnesty International,” Hartley deadpanned after a morning practice. “We’re way too generous.”

Hartley has tried to put a positive spin on most of his dozen games behind the bench for the Flames (4-5-3), but he didn’t have a lot of good things to say about the early moments of Friday’s battle with the visiting Blues.

After benching Brad Richards should the New York Rangers eventually just buy him out?
  Yes.
  Might be a good idea.
  No.
  Not sure.
