Cervenka to renew acquaintances

When the Dallas Stars drop by the Saddledome for Wednesday’s date, Calgary Flames forward Roman Cervenka will renew acquaintances with an old friend.
His best season in the KHL came as a sidekick — or was it the other way around? — to current Stars sniper Jaromir Jagr with Avangard Omsk in 2010-11.
It’s obvious Cervenka has already struck an on-ice bond with one of his new teammates at the Saddledome.
When the Flames desperately needed an offensive spark in Monday’s tight-checking 2-1 shootout loss to the Minnesota Wild, it was no surprise to see the 27-year-old NHL newcomer hopping over the boards at the same time as Jiri Hudler.
It was no surprise, either, that Calgary’s game-tying tally early in the third period came courtesy the skilled Czechs on a two-on-one rush.
Cervenka earned his assist in the neutral zone, but he was just as valuable as a decoy on the play, bolting to the net before Hudler ripped a wicked wrister through Niklas Ba
