Shootout kills Flames ... again
By RANDY SPORTAK, QMI Agency

The shootout bugaboo continues for the Calgary Flames.

For a part of the NHL game which is supposed to be a coin-flip -- a 50-50 proposition -- the Flames continue to be the league's worst club in shootouts.

Minnesota Wild forwards Zach Parise and Mikko Koivu scored with great dekes on Flames goalie Leland Irving to make the difference in Monday's 2-1 shootout victory.

The Flames (3-4-3) have now lost eight straight games decided by shootout, three this season.

Minnesota (6-5-1) won on the road for the first time this season.

On the one-year anniversary of Calgary's last shootout win, coming versus the Vancouver Canucks, only Jiri Hudler could convert during the shootout. Blair Jones and Alex Tanguay were stopped by Wild goalie Niklas Backstrom.

Are you bummed Canada lost to Sweden in the quarterfinals at the world hockey championship?
