Most Flames players sporting eye protection

Tim Jackman looked around his own locker-room and was inspired.

 

He also realized he wanted to be to keep looking around long after his days playing professional hockey were done.

So during the long, lockout-lengthened off-season, the Calgary Flames forward decided it was time. Might as well put on a visor and ensure maximum protection for his eyesight.

Jackman isn’t alone in making the change for the 2013 season. Three other Flames players — Curtis Glencross, Chris Butler and Mark Giordano — all donned the facial protection when the NHL came back from the lockout.

Now, there are only three full-time Flames who don’t wear one: New forward Steve Begin, and defencemen Jay Bouwmeester and Dennis Wideman.

Jackman’s reasoning is simple. He felt the job he does — mucking things up in high traffic areas — would be done better if he had eye protection.
