Experience on Jarome Iginla's side in Team Canada debate
Sochi Winter Olympics one year away

VANCOUVER - If you look at it this way, maybe Jarome Iginla actually has time on his side.

While folks from Comox, B.C., to Corner Brook, Nfld., and everywhere in between begin debating Team Canada's roster for the 2014 Sochi Olympics, it's worth noting Hockey Hall of Fame credentials are not the only thing the past three captains have had in common.

Mario Lemieux in Salt Lake City in 2002. Age 36.

Joe Sakic in Torino in 2006. Age 36.

Scott Niedermayer in Vancouver in 2010. Well, I think you get the idea.

When Iginla celebrates his next birthday on Canada Day, the longtime captain and face-of-the-franchise for the Calgary Flames will have 36 candles on his cake.

So he's got that going for him.

"It's flattering to be mentioned (as a possible captain), but it's not something you think about," Iginla said prior to Saturday's clash with the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena.

"It's just hard enough to make that team."

The Vancouver Canucks should replace ex-coach Alain Vigneault with...
  Guy Boucher.
  Lindy Ruff.
  Andy Murray.
  Jacques Martin.
  Brent Sutter.
  Don Hay.
  Other.
