Five Flames stories to watch this week

If anybody hadn't remembered the last Calgary Flames victory prior to Saturday night’s win over the Edmonton Oilers, it was April 7, 2012.

More than nine months ago.

Yep, that was a long gestation between Calgary’s 5-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks in the 2011-12 season finale and this past weekend’s 4-3 Battle of Alberta victory.

After starting the season with three losses, the Flames are finally on the board in the win column. That’s the good news for them.

The bad news is they’re still near the bottom of the league and have not taken advantage of a home-heavy schedule to start the season.

They have a couple more clashes at the Saddledome before embarking on a real road trip, including tilts against the Colorado Avalanche (Thursday, 7 p.m., SNWest) and the Chicago Blackhawks (Saturday, 8 p.m., CBC).

Can the Flames turn one win into a winning streak?

After benching Brad Richards should the New York Rangers eventually just buy him out?
  Yes.
  Might be a good idea.
  No.
  Not sure.
