TV commercial may make Mark Giordano a target

CALGARY - Every time he goes to Vancouver in the future, Mark Giordano knows he had better be on his best behaviour.

A trip to the sin bin when facing the Canucks on the West Coast will now potentially mean extra attention from Vancouver’s infamous Green Men — who are known for their antics when opposing players are in the penalty box.

One of Giordano’s television commercials for ATB Financial features him giving a crushing check to one of the Green Men who are making life miserable for people trying to enjoy lunch.

“I had better not take a penalty in Vancouver,” the Calgary Flames defenceman said. “It was in good fun.

“It was fun,” he added of filming a television commercial. “It was an eye-opener on that side of things. Behind the scenes, all the work that goes into these things, is pretty cool. Now, I know what Iggy and Cammy have gone through to shoot those things, but we had a lot of fun doing it.
