Jarome Iginla playing well despite goalless start

CALGARY - Four games into the season and Jarome Iginla has no goals.

That's a fact.

But the difference between fact and incorrect perception comes into play when delving into how the Calgary Flames captain is performing to start the season.

On the surface, for Iginla to have no goals would make it easy to say it’s the early stage of a stereotypical ‘slow start’ — even though that reputation isn’t as true as critics keep saying, repeatedly.

However, the reality of watching the Flames’ all-time leading scorer and face of the franchise through the first four games show there shouldn’t be panic.

Want offence? He’s collected three assists, one in each of the last three games. Two of those helpers were fantastic passes.

Want shots? Iginla leads the team with 19 shots on goal. He’s a 516-goal scorer with a career shooting percentage of 13.2%. The law of averages says he’ll put some pucks in the net.

The Vancouver Canucks should replace ex-coach Alain Vigneault with...
  Guy Boucher.
  Lindy Ruff.
  Andy Murray.
  Jacques Martin.
  Brent Sutter.
  Don Hay.
  Other.
