CALGARY - Czech ... and mate.

After a double dose of good news Tuesday, the Calgary Flames are hopeful their pair of prized free-agent acquisitions could both be in the lineup for Saturday’s Hockey Night In Canada showdown with the Edmonton Oilers.

Veteran winger Jiri Hudler returned Tuesday from the Czech Republic, where he was mourning the death of his father, while teammate and Flames centre Roman Cervenka received clearance from a specialist at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix to practice with his new team, a positive step in his recovery from a blood-clot in his leg.

The Czech forwards did not accompany the team to the West Coast for Wednesday’s road meeting with the Vancouver Canucks (8 p.m., Sportsnet West), but they’ll be waiting when the Flames return home from the one-game roadie.

After benching Brad Richards should the New York Rangers eventually just buy him out?
  Yes.
  Might be a good idea.
  No.
  Not sure.
