Craig Conroy relishing his new role with Flames
By ERIC FRANCIS, QMI Agency

CALGARY - Craig Conroy is about to embark on a challenging new path set forth by Bob Hartley.

However, his new role with the Calgary Flames won't be half as challenging as trying to shut off all contact with bosom buddy Jarome Iginla as mandated during the lockout.

"The worst was Thanksgiving when Iggy invited me over for dinner," said Conroy, one of Iginla's best of pals for more than a decade.

"There were a lot of guys there like (Chuck) Kobasew, (Henrik) Karlsson and (Brett) Carson, but the lockout had just started and the rules were pretty clear -- management could not talk to players. I was flying home from Abbotsford, called my wife and asked where she was and she said she was at Jarome's having Thanksgiving dinner!

"My wife asked if I wanted to join her and the girls there, but I figured I better not. So I just went home."

And wondered if anyone really would've cared had he been spotted sneaking into Iginla's house.

Are you surprised Don Cherry backed Daniel Alfredsson's comments?
  Yes.
  No.
It's Don Cherry - who knows what he will say.
  Not sure.
