Jarome Iginla and Sidney Crosby will be linked forever.

Who in Canada can forget the Calgary Flames captain setting Sid The Kids Olympic gold-winning goal at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games?

It was cool the way that ended, Iginla said. Playing with him, just being on the same team with him and getting to know him a little bit hes very down to earth he was a good teammate. I enjoyed being on his line.

The pair wont be on the ice together Saturday night, however, when the Flames play host to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2011-12 season opener.

The back problems which caused Iginla to miss all of the exhibition schedule have subsided, but Crosby is sidelined due to the concussion issues caused by two nasty shots to the head in early January.

Probably disappointed, Iginla said of his thoughts about Crosby not being able to play the game. He did light us up last year, though. On that side of it people might laugh when I say Im disappointed. Its part of competing. We definitely have a lot of respect for him.

Fans would have liked to see him, for sure. I know theyll be disappointed.

The feeling wasnt the same throughout the Flames dressing room.

I cant honestly say Im disappointed, forward Alex Tanguay said. Hes the best player in the game and its certainly not the same team with him in the lineup then they are without him. Theyre a great team even though they dont have him, but I think he makes them better. Were trying to get to points and dont want to see him in the lineup for sure.

All the fans, Im sure, would like to see Sidney play. Id want to see him play, too. Hes an outstanding athlete. Hes a premier hockey player in our league. He certainly sells the sport for all of us and people want to see those types of player.

Were not too disappointed hes not in the lineup in the game we play.

Added head coach Brent Sutter; For the game of hockey, were all excited that Sidney Crosby is going to be back playing. I know Sidney personally, and hes a tremendous, tremendous young man and obviously a very talented player. Best in the game.

Its great to have the best back, and hell be back soon, but Im glad hes playing against us.
