The Flames prospects poured on the Heat, but the Vancouver Canucks young guns got the best of them.

The Young Stars tournament wrapped up in Penticton, B.C., Thursday with the Flames falling 5-4 to the Canucks in an afternoon clash to bring their record to 1-2 for the week.

Jon Rheault, Gaelan Patterson, Mitch Wahl and Josh Meyers — who all played for the AHL’s Abbotsford Heat last season — scored for the Flames.

It might have been a victory if not for Canucks goalie Eddie Lack’s 45-save performance at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Calgarian Cam Lanigan, who played for the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings last season, stopped 15 of 20 shots for the Flames.

The Oilers prospects beat the Flames 5-3 Tuesday.

While the Flames tournament record wasn’t stellar, the play of guys like Rheault was pretty impressive.

He scored a hat-trick in the opener during an 8-4 win over the Anaheim Ducks Young Stars and finished the tourney as the scoring leader with four goals and five points.

The 24-year-old definitely left an impression as main camp is set to kick off Friday, with a collection of rookies joining the veterans this weekend for on-ice sessions.
