The Calgary Flames are adding youthful depth to the organization.

Stefan Meyer, an NHL second-round draft choice of the Florida Panthers in 2003, was signed to a two-year contract.

The left winger, who celebrated his 25th birthday Tuesday, has played just four NHL games — all with the Panthers in 2007-08.

He has played 333 AHL games with Rochester and San Antonio, in which he’s collected 74 goals and

74 assists along with 449 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-2, 200-lb., former Medicine Hat Tigers standout will battle for a roster spot in Calgary, but he will also be counted on as a veteran for the AHL’s Abbotsford Heat.

The Flames also announced Brett Sutter had inked a one-year US$500,000 contract.
