The Calgary Flames are down to two restricted free agents after announcing Brett Sutter signed a one-year, two way contract Tuesday morning.

The deal is reportedly worth US$500,000 if he's with the big club, and a $75,000 salary in the minors.

That leaves the team with two restricted free agents, defenceman Ian White -- who has a July 30 arbitration date -- and minor leaguer J.D. Watt.

Sutter, drafted 179th overall in 2005, failed to record a point in 10 games for the Flames last season. He has played 14 career NHL games and has one goal.

He collected nine goals and 24 points in 66 regular-season games for AHL Abbotsford, and then lead the Heat in the playoffs with 11 points (4-7) in 13 outings.

Sutter has a chance to make the club out of training camp as a fourth-liner. He's one of five players singled out by GM Darryl Sutter who are expected to make a serious push for a NHL job.
