The list of restricted free agents is shrinking for the Calgary Flames.
Kris Chucko, the club’s 2004 NHL first-round draft choice, along with defenceman Gord Baldwin and prospect Gaelan Patterson all signed deals announced Friday.
Chucko, 24, has spent the last four seasons with the club’s AHL affiliates. Last season, the right winger collected nine goals and nine assists in 41 games through an injury filled season. He’s played one NHL game.
Baldwin, a third-round pick in 2005, skated in 67 games for the AHL Abbotsford Heat and had four goals and 24 points.
Patterson, a 2009 seventh-round draft choice inked an entry level contract. Last year, the soon-to-be 20-year-old collected a WHL career-best 26 goals and 33 assists for the Saskatoon Blades. He played three playoff games for the Heat and collected one goal.
Also, the Flames added Troy Ward to the staff of the AHL’s Abbotsford Heat Friday.
Ward, who has been behind benches since finishing his university career at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 1984, will join head coach Jim Playfair and assistant Steve O’Rourke in guiding the club’s top affiliate.
He spent the last three seasons with the AHL’s Houston Aeros, the last two as assistant coach/assistant GM.
Ward was also an assistant coach with the Pittsburgh Penguins (1997-2000).
Preds sign Lundmark
The Nashville Predators signed C Jamie Lundmark to a one-year, two-way contract.
The 29-year-old appeared in 36 games between the Flames and the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2009-10 NHL season, scoring five goals and 12 points
