WHY FLAMES LOST
They had their top line going, but were on their heels defensively at times and suffered some unfortunate hops to help the Senators capitalize on the scoresheet. They also disappeared in the third period.
WHAT IT MEANS
A second consecutive loss hurts the Flames' hopes of being in a stronger position in the Western Conference playoff picture before the Olympic break next week.
HIT OF THE GAME
LW Chris Neil hit everything that moved in the opening period. His smack into LW Jamie Lundmark in front of the benches toppled the Flames winger. Ticked him off, too. He jabbed his blade into Neil's bottom to illustrate his dislike.
