WHY FLAMES LOST

The new-look Flames looked like the same old Flames at home. They lacked spark, cohesion, energy and offence against a Flyers team that gave them every opportunity to take charge.

WHAT IT MEANS

Guess the big win over the Edmonton Oilers was an anomaly. The Flames have now lost 12 of their last 14 games. Their three-game point streak is also quashed. So much for an injection of energy from the big trade.

HIT OF THE GAME

Robyn Regehr got a good lick on Scott Hartnell early in the second period, stepping into the long-haired pest in front of the Flyers bench.

GOAL OF THE GAME

Claude Giroux found himself in all alone on Miikka Kiprusoff early in the third period, and he patiently picked the open side with a backhand for a 2-0 lead when the Flames goalie made a move believing the young Flyers prospect would eventually pull the puck to his forehand.
