COMING IN

A 9-1 thrashing at the hands of the San Jose Sharks Monday has the Flames riding a five-game losing skid and on a 1-6-1 run since they cobbled together a five-game winning streak. Calgary has lost four straight at home.

Chicago arrives on the heels of a rare loss, 4-1 in Ottawa. The Blackhawks are 8-2-1 in their last 11.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Chicago has humbled the Flames twice already this season. First was the infamous 6-5 overtime loss in which Calgary blew a 5-0 first-period lead. The Blackhawks put a more emphatic stamp on the last meeting, racking up a 7-1 win at the Saddledome in mid-November. The Flames lost all four regular-season games last season and split the series the year before to give them a 2-6-2 mark in the last 10 meetings, which doesn't include the 'Hawks' six-game win in last year's playoffs.

QUOTE TO NOTE

"It's a big one. Flames and Hawks even without the losses is big. Now that we're coming off big losses, it should be more intense. Both teams need to get back to basics, play physical and intense."

-- 'Hawks forward Patrick Sharp
