The Abbotsford Heat are staring at a key part of their schedule.

The Heat sit fourth in the AHL's North Division (18-16-5) with a chance to solidify their position with a season-long eight-game homestand, which begins with games tonight and tomorrow against the West Division-leading Texas Stars.

"We've got to build off of what we did this weekend on the road and bring it home," Heat forward David Van der Gulik told the Abbotsford News. "We played really exciting hockey, good hockey, and I think the (home) fans would really appreciate it if we came out the same way."

The Heat beat Houston and San Antonio last weekend.

Abbotsford will be helped by the return of Jason Jaffray from a two-game stint with Calgary, but both Kris Chucko and John Armstrong are dealing with shoulder injuries.

Jaffray, who leads the Heat in scoring, was chosen for the AHL all-star game, as was goalie David Shantz for the ECHL showcase.
